Before the advent of the U19 competition, in 1939 Carlton's third eighteen team was Fawkner*.
.*There was a Carlton Third Eighteen that had played in the Victorian Junior Football League since 1935, and their home ground was in Royal Park.
Carlton would come second of seven teams in the 1946 VFL Under 19's competition. Teams involved included Carlton, Essendon, Hawthorn, Melbourne, North Melbourne, Richmond and St Kilda.
