Game Review
A comfortable win over the Redlegs at the MCG.Carlton put a strong team onto the field as Melbourne had defeated them in all games since 1925. The Blues kicked with the wind and had a handy 25 point lead at the end of the first quarter. In the second term they played defensively packing the back line, which limited Melbourne's scoring opportunities, and only gaining on the Blues by 1 point. Heavy rain fell in the half time break, but this did not hamper the Carlton team as they slammed on three goals in five minutes. Melbourne were unable to score in the third term and the Blues held a match winning 53 point lead. The wind abated in the final quarter and Melbourne ended up kicking a somewhat respectable score.
The Blues sit second on the ladder behind Collingwood, with Richmond and Essendon next best.
At the end of this round Carlton were in 2nd spot on the ladder with a percentage of 150.7.
