1916 Reserves

The Metropolitan Amateur Football Association (MAFA) voted to go into recession until the end of the war.
This decision came after the VFA and some VFL clubs decided the same.
The MAFA action affected Carlton District. (ie: no competition)
The VFL competition was reduced to just four clubs, Carlton, Collingwood, Fitzroy and Richmond.
(All gate monies to be donated to patriotic funds)

The Victorian Junior Football Association (VJFA) now under the auspices of the VFL played their competition this year.
