Game Review

A massive win, and the debut of Carlton Legend Bob Chitty were the highlights of this game at Princes Park. Despite the big win it was mediocre game brightened by occasional flashes of good play by the Blues.

The Blues proved that they are still capable and are far from a spent force. Carlton had more pace and won in the air, however, at times they broke down on the forward line with too much short passing and handball. The back line played well led by Park, McIntyre and Gill. Crisp won well in the centre and played well all day. Shea and first gamer Chitty were among Carlton's better players.

The Age said of the debutants; "K. Fox, of Carlton, demonstrated on Saturday that he has sound football sense, and when in the ruck with McLean proved himself a capable follower." "R. Chitty, a young player at Carlton, displayed great dash when relieving the pressure on the Carlton defence lines. More should be heard of this young player, who marks and kicks well."

At the end of this round Carlton were in 6th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 111.0.
