Biography

First running out for the Blues in season 1899, Will Stuckey captained the Blues in the last three games of the 1899 season, and throughout 1900. He was reappointed captain for 1901, but didn't play the first 3 rounds. Ernie Walton was acting captain during that time, and eventually took over from Stuckey for the remainder of the year. Overall, Stuckey played 28 games for Carlton and kicked one goal - in Round 12, 1899.

He was born in Walhalla, and recruited from West Melbourne in the VFA. He also played for North Melbourne VFA, Essendon VFA and Essendon Districts. According to The Argus 22 Sept. 1928, William Stuckey was formerly captain of the West Melbourne, North Melbourne, and Carlton teams.

Brothers Harry was a famous inter colonial cricketer, and George played football for Essendon. His father Charles Stuckey played cricket for the Richmond first eleven.

Stuckey passed away on the 21st September 1928 aged 55.
