The Collingwood Forever web site says he was recruited from Britannia and Carlton to Collingwood.

Beggs named in Carlton squad to play Port Melbourne on the M.C.G.

1891 May 23
Beggs scored a goal in the victory over Melbourne at the M.C.G.

1891 CFC Annual Report, Beggs scored 4 goals during the season.

William Beggs was a regular in the Carlton squads for matches in the first half of 1891.
His last entry is for the July 11 match against South Melbourne at the M.C.G.

1893 May 13
The VFA Permit Committee granted W. Beggs a transfer to Collingwood.
Played 19 games and kicked 3 goals for the 'Woods.
