In the 1961 Carlton FC Annual Report and Balance Sheet it was recorded that Tom Kitson was 21 years of age and from the Red Cliffs FC (near Mildura).

"Half-forward flanker, Tom Kitson, 21, from Red Cliffs, showed plenty of pace and forward sense."

"Kitson, 21, 5.10 and 12.3 staked strong claims for selection with fine play around the packs and on the half-forward flank in Saturday's practice match.
His determination and skillful ball handling was far more impressive than either of the Blues' regular rovers, Leo Brereton and Martin Cross."

Tom Kitson played reserve grade football for Carlton in 1962.

He didn't manage to play a senior game for Carlton.
