Game ReviewIt was goal for goal early but 3 goals late in the first quarter gave the Bears a 19 point lead. The Blues answered early in the second quarter through Stephen Kernahan with 5 goals to regain the lead briefly. Moments later Brisbane attacked when the ball took a leg break around the oncoming Michael Sexton into the hands of his opponent Justin Leppitsch who strolled into an open goal. After seeing this, one could think it wasn't going to be our night & Brisbane proceeded to kick the next 5 goals to take a 37 point lead into half time. It really was a pivotal moment in the game.
Thereafter, the match appeared over and it was, Carlton only able to add 2 more goals to go down by 97 points.
Kernahan played a lone hand up forward with 6 goals from 15 possessions and 10 marks. Craig Bradley with 34 possessions, Fraser Brown with 23 and Anthony Koutoufides with 22 tried hard to fire up the Blues.
Captain Kernahan apologised to fans after the match and said it was unacceptable. He vowed that the club would look at itself over the off season.
Brisbane's score and the 97 point loss is Carlton's highest ever in finals football.
