Game Review
Carlton defeated the 4th-placed Melbourne in this tight Semi-Final. The Fuchsias had at times been second on the ladder during the season, and put up a good show before bowing out after this 11-point defeat. The Blues entered the game as warm favourites, but trailed by 5 points at the last break. However, goals to Gardiner (2), Valentine and Green saw the Blues outscore Melbourne 4 goals to two, and celebrate a hard-fought win. This victory set up another meeting with Fitzroy - the team that we fought a draw with earlier in the season, and a major threat in our quest to meet Collingwood for the flag.
