Game Review

In this match at Princes Park, Footscray – despite their inaccuracy – led Carlton by 17 points early in the last quarter. ‘Soapy’ Vallence then inspired the Blues with two great marks that he coolly converted into goals from long range. Frank Seymour added another, and as time-on began, scores were level.

But in a last-gasp effort, the Bulldogs swept into attack from the centre bounce, and their centre half-forward Bill Spurling kicked the winning point with a flying snap-shot that just beat the final bell.

At the end of this round Carlton dropped to 6th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 126.4.

This was Footscray's first win against Carlton at Princes Park.
