Game ReviewAn important win. Carlton used the strong breeze to start the comeback in the 3rd quarter, and needed all their guile and experience in defence to hold off the Cats till the end. Compare this to last year in a similiar match at a similar time of the year where the Blues lost. A good omen.
Carlton rover Rod Ashman has shot to the lead in the Inside Football Player of the Year, following his match-winning performance against Geelong at Kardinia Park on Saturday. Ashman collected 18 kicks, five handpasses, seven marks and kicked three goals to keep the Blues in the game and eventually guide them to a narrow win. It was Ashman's third best-on-ground this season. Ashman's teammate Ken Hunter was also prominent and received votes for fine game in defence. - Inside Football Player of the Year.
David McKay played his 250th game for Carlton and the Blues celebrated with a five-point win over Geelong. Bruce Doull and Ken Hunter did well for the Blues while Ian Nankervis and John Mossop were the Cats best. - Football Record.
