Carlton took on the ladder leaders in Essendon, but failed to take the game.In the second quarter Essendon was awarded a goal from a snap from Bomber Jack Jones from near the behind post.
The ball struck both goal posts and despite protests from the Carlton players, the goal stood!
Essendon won the game by 5 points.
