Game Review

Blues Halt Tigers
Richmond's attack - so positive in recent matches, broke down against steady and reliable defence by Carlton. The Blues scored in a game that was vital for both sides. Jim Miller established himself as a strong spearhead for the Blues, scoring 4 goals, while Cliff Stewart was a match winner on the wing. John Nicholls held the Tigers strong rucks, and Sergio Silvagni played his usual strong utility role. - Football Record.

"Carlton captain and coach Ron Barassi had a few angry words to say to young rover Adrian Gallagher in the second quarter. Gallagher got the ball near goal, but instead of passing to Barassi who was unguarded, he had a shot which missed. It was selfish football and Barassi was quite justified in telling him so." (Age May 24)
