Game Review
Carlton were competitive in the first half, and were 3 points ahead at half time. But Port kicked the first 4 goals of the third quarter and 7 in total to the Blues' 4 to take a 17 point lead at 3/4 time. The Blues could only manage one goal in the last quarter to the Power's 5, running out 44 point winners.Darren Hulme was Carlton's best player with 22 disposals. Simon Beaumont had 18. Brendan Fevola kicked 3 goals.
Kade Simpson was not in the original squad of 25 players to play in this match and played against two different Port sides over two days; on Saturday he had played with the Northern Blues against Port Melbourne at Teac Oval at North Port Melbourne, and on Sunday he was a late replacement for the ill Bret Thornton against Port Adelaide at Football Park in South Australia. In Simpson's first 3 League games for Carlton he didn't have a stat, but perhaps he had a good excuse on this occasion!
