Game Review

In what turned into little more than an extra training session, Carlton kept the Hawks scoreless in the first quarter, and cruised to an effortless win by six goals. Max Wenn continued his consistent year and top scored for the Blues with 4 goals.

A low standard match, which the Argus described as "often little above paddock standard." The Blues got away to a big lead in the first quarter, but both backlines were on top in the first half, and Carlton defenders Gill, Comben, and Guy were impassable. Wenn stood out at centre half-forward, where he was well-supported by his flankers James and Beasy. At full-forward, Keith Warburton had to work hard for his three goals, as his leads were continually ignored. Rovers Mills and Spencer did well, and Ken Hands "whose kicking and marking should have been an example for his team mates" set up the win with his dominance in the ruck.
