Game Review

As most teams do in winter, Carlton had to battle hard in a dour struggle with the Saints down on their dung-heap at Moorabbin. Future Blue Val Perovic was the stand-out player on the day, he comprehensively beat Robert Walls.

St Kilda showed their supporters they have plenty of heart when they kicked 6.4 in the last quarter to come within four points of Carlton in a thrilling finish at Moorabbin and still recorded their highest ever tally in 151 games against the Blues. The Saints nine goals in the second quarter almost paved the way for their first home win against the Blues since 1973, but they went down by eight points at the finish. Carlton did manage to score their best total at Moorabbin since the Saints moved there in 1965 in what was a very entertaining game. - Football Record.
