The reproduction in Trove is over exposed which makes most of it unreadable. The original newspaper needs to be viewed at the State Library of Victoria and decent photos of Pat and the article taken from it.

Information is scant on Patrick Kennedy, who played 23 games and kicked 15 goals in his three seasons with the Navy Blues from 1923 to ’25.

At Cobram is were he learnt to play the game. He later attended Assumption College and later transferred to South Melbourne CYMS prior to being recruited by Carlton.

Pat was a pioneer with his family believing that he is the first league player to have attended Assumption College and later played league football.

He was cleared to Carlton from Cobram on 7th July, 1923 and was cleared to Hawthorn on 26th June, 1925, was cleared back to Carlton on 20th April, 1927 and finally cleared to Sandringham on 1st June, 1929.

Part way through the 1925 season he was cleared to Hawthorn, where he added another three games and one goal to his tally, but returned to Carlton and was in the 1927 Reserve premiership squad..

He served in WWII and enlisted in July 9, 1942 and served until July 29, 1958 when he was a major in the Australian Survey Corps.

Kennedy passed away on the 21st August, 1981 at Glen Waverley aged 78.
