Paddy McGoldrick

Paddy was the tackling coach at Carlton from 1983 to 1989.

He was recruited to the club in mid 1982 after an approach by the club to the Victorian Rugby Union (VRU). Paddy had previously been a state and national schoolboys coach for the sport. He provided several sessions to the club in the second half of the premiership year of 1982. In 1983 he was appointed on a weekly basis at training until finishing in 1989.

From there he went on to work with Robert Walls at Brisbane in 1991 and Neil Balme at Melbourne from 1993-97.

Paddy also played in the Galahs’ match on the MCG in March of 1970 against the visiting Kerry side from Ireland. He was one of a few Gaelic players added to the squad to help out the VFL players.
