Northern Blues

From Season 2002 to 2020, Carlton would play it's Reserves Football through an affiliation with the Northern Bullants Football Club, becoming the Northern Blues for Season 2012.

Originally the Preston Football Club, the alliance arrangement replaced the traditional Reserves Grade competition of the Victorian based AFL teams that ended after the 1999 season. At the time, most of the Victorian AFL teams chose to align themselves with a VFA team, forming a new league which was later retitled the Victorian Football League. Carlton had their own VFL side between 2000 and 2002 before aligning with the Preston side playing under the Northern Bullants banner.
