Kouta would play an amazing run of games mid-2000, and many had high hopes for a Brownlow. Perhaps it was the form of Brett Ratten, who would also earn a fair share of votes, but Kouta would miss out by 4 votes from eventual winner Shane Woewodin in what will always remain a sore point for Carlton fans.
