J. Pullar played cricket for Carlton and was part of the World Record scoring Carlton team of the 1895-1896 season. Carlton scored 924 with Pullar contributing 95 runs.

1892 September 24
Pullar was named in the 24 man squad to play the last game of the season against Collingwood at Victoria Park.
James Pullar played his one and only game at full forward. He did not kick a goal.

The Woods were sitting last on the ladder, and a win to the Blues would have delivered the wooden spoon exclusively to Victoria Park.
However, many Carlton players were absent from this match and Collingwood got up to beat the Blues for the first time.
This win meant that Collingwood shared the 'spoon with Williamstown.
Both teams finshed last on the ladder with the same number of wins, goals for, and against.

1893 May 04
J. Pullar was granted a transfer to North Melbourne.
