Played reserves for Carlton in the 1920s.

Played half back for Carlton reserves in 1921 also some games for Carlton District.
September 3rd, Carlton reserves played Coburg, "Carlton dominated the game (the first half) mainly through the brilliant high marking of Murphy and the dash of Dee on the backline."

Captained Carlton District in 1922. In that same year named best on ground for Carlton reserves in game against Geelong at Corio on June 17th.

1923 named as a new player from Carlton District. Named in best players in several games, notably Geelong at Corio again, he obviously like playing there.

1925 reserves named as a new player from Port Melbourne, named in the best in several games through the season.

1927 cleared to St Kilda.
