Albert David George Cowell

Cowell, born in Ballarat, played 7 games and kicked 4 goals for Carlton after first running out in Navy Blue in Season 1899. He transferred to VFA club North Melbourne and played his only game in Rnd 1 1900. Cowell returned to Ballarat where he worked a pastry chef/cook.

Cowell has a unique place in VFL / AFL history - he was the first player listed to 'see the light' and cross over from Collingwood to the Mighty Blues! Cowell spent season 1898 with the Magpies in which he played 11 games and kicked 2 goals. Recruited to Collingwood from South Ballarat, his original club was Beaufort.

Cowell passed away 27 April 1937 aged 67 in Ballarat.
