Artz was recruited from Hampton Rovers via TAC Cup team the Central Dragons. Artz headed back to play with VAFA club Hampton Rovers whereupon he notched up over 100 senior games and was part of their 2001 C Section premiership team win over Old Essendon.
Artz represented the VAFA in 2003.
