Ann was made the first ever female life member of the Carlton football club in 1980.

At the time of the award she had been secretary to the general manager of the club for 10 years.

"It's a great honour for anyone, man or woman. The real thrill is knowing you are connected with the club for life", Ann said in response to the award.
