Game Review

Both sides had plenty of unfamiliar faces. The Swans had a large number of rookies, while the new look Blues featured 12 new players, mostly from other AFL clubs. Nick Stevens, the ex-Port Adelaide player in his first game with the Blues, was particularly impressive in the midfield with 24 disposals. This allowed Brendan Fevola to kick 8 goals and Scott Camporeale 4. Digby Morrell scored Carlton's first 'Super' goal.

Game Review

The Blues started badly but fought back to get within a point of Geelong at half time. The Cats had the better of Carlton in the third quarter and then ran away from them in the last to win by 20 points.

Lance Whitnall kicked 4 goals in the first half, while Scarlett kept Fevola goalless. He moved onto Whitnall in the second half and allowed him just one more goal. Nick Stevens and Daniel Harford played well in the midfield. Irish rookie Setanta Ó hAilpín made his much-anticipated debut in this match.

Digby Morrell scored his and Carlton's second 'Super' goal and was the only Carlton player to score any 'Super' goals at Carlton.

This ended Carlton's 2004 Pre-Season Wizard Home Loans Cup campaign and sent them to the Practice match circuit.

Game Review

The Bulldogs led all day. Brendan Fevola kicked 2 goals in time on in the final quarter (his only ones for the day), to get Carlton within 4 points, before 2 late goals gave the Dogs a 16 point victory.

Nick Stevens was again very good and kicked 2 goals. It was unfortunate that a suspension from his final game with Port Adelaide would keep him out of the first 2 home and away games. Scott Camporeale (3 goals), Matthew Lappin and Ryan Houlihan (2 goals) all worked hard. Brad Fisher also kicked 3 goals.
