Biography

Marr ran out in Navy Blue in 27 games commencing in Season 1900. He kicked 6 goals in his time at Carlton.

Of the 3 Blues who debuted in Marr's debut game, he is the only to play past Season 1900 with both Bill Strickland and Peter Campbell finishing up in their debut year.

Marr was born in Richmond and recruited from Richmond City.

Marr crossed to the Bombers for the 1903 Season where he played 14 games and kicked a goal.

He died at Liverpool, NSW aged 94 and had lived in Marrickville.

Footnote:

The Herald April 23 (p9) 1903, reported a J. S. Marr (Carlton) was granted a permit to play with Fitzroy

The Fremantle Times July 02 1920 under "Cottesloe Notes" mentions a "Bill" Marr "ex Carlton and gold fields man, "who is leaving our ranks to better himself." (same person?)
