James Fenton Balharry

J. Balharry scored a goal for Yarra (a Williamstown club) on April 10 1886

There is some confusion with both Jim and Harold Balharrys details. It seems they have been mixed and need sorting out.

At the time the Secretary of the Carlton Football Club, Balharry would come out of retirement to play his solitary game to fill a place in the side.

Balharry’s younger brother, Harry, was a Vice Captain of the Club in Pre-VFL days.

Williamstown born, Balharry played Carlton VFA, and Carlton Juniors.

At the Carlton AGM April 04 1898 Balharry was presented with a Past Service/Long Service certificate. (for Jim or Harry Balharry?)

In Harry Walter Balharry's (aged 76) death notice Argus March 22 1948 (p2) It mentions brother Jim living at Studley Park Ave. Kew

He passed away in Kew Vic.1958, aged 90.

There was a J. F. Balharry who was in WA for three years and had some success in gold mining.
He wrote to the Williamstown Chronicle 15 February 1896 about the hardships encountered in WA and cautioned people travelling there.
