Game Review

First gamer Bert Boromeo was late turning up for the game. Jack Worrall reported in the Australasian said, "though he played in canvas boots, not arriving in time to be fixed up properly, he gave decided promise, and looked every inch a footballer." Worrall said of another Carlton debutant; "The best man on the ground was Graf, the Williamstown junior wingman. He is small and sturdy and remarkably clever."

This was Coach Viv Valentine's first game in charge. The game also featured 5 playing debuts, including fine games by new players Newton Chandler and Bert Boromeo.

After a very sloppy start, Fitzroy couldn't get back into the game and Carlton ran out 43 point winners and took 1st position on the ladder.

"At Carlton 2,500 season tickets - the greatest number sold by them on any single day-were exhausted long before the game started, and hundreds of people were passed in on emergency cards." (Argus May 05)

At the end of this round Carlton were in 1st spot on the ladder with a percentage of 178.2.
