Brewis came to Carlton in 1924 and played 2 Reserves games before playing out the year at Maryborough. Ted Brewis played 60 games commencing in Season 1925. He also kicked 12 goals. He was famous for his good body strength.
Brewis was recruited from Maffra, but also played for Maryborough, Camberwell and Preston in the VFA. Preston player Ted Brewis retired from football 17 April 1935, he was part of the police motor-cycle patrol based at Russell Street. Brewis joined Preston in 1932 after 60 games with Carlton. A motor-cycle policeman during the week, Brewis played only eight games in his first season after an accident on duty, but in 1933 and 1934 held down the centre half back position before retiring after 42 games. He transferred to Preston with ex Carlton teammate Alec Doyle.
Brewis was born in Bedlington, England and died in Ipswich Queensland aged 92 on October 4, 1994.
