Game Review

Collingwood had beaten Carlton in all three of their previous meetings during the season by an average of better than three goals. They had finished on top of the ladder two and a half games in front of Fitzroy, and no less than six wins in front of Carlton in third. No wonder they entered this Semi Final full of confidence.

But Blues coach Jack Worrall had been doing his homework. He had rested his captain Jim Flynn and star defender Norman Clark from the previous week's match against Melbourne, so they were rested and ready for the Magpies. He drilled his tactics into his players throughout the week, and from the first bounce, Carlton were unstoppable. They slammed on 4.3 to a solitary point by the Magpies in the first quarter, and dominated right across the ground from that point on.

The final margin was 46 points in favour of the Blues, and Worrall had stamped himself as one of the game's first great visionaries.
