Game Review

Carlton got to within 3 points with a minute or so to go as a result of a snapped goal on an acute angle by none other than....Rod Austin!!!

Carlton defender Bruce Doull was the oustanding player of this round. In a superb display on the half back flank, Doull was the obstacle that stood between Richmond and a runaway win. - Inside Football Player of the Year.

It was not surprising to see that Neil Balme being reported and suspended again. If he is not cowardly king hitting players off the ball, he is spitting into the face of the smallest player on the ground.

Richmond's three point victory over Carlton in front of almost 50,000 fans at the MCG proved to be the highlight of Round 21. Inaccuracy in front of goal was the main story why Carlton are in the "hot seat" for their Round 22 do or die clash with Footscray. The Blues had more shots at goal than the Tigers but inaccuracy cost them the game. They had plenty of chances and should have beaten the Tigers if they had had more players of the calibre of Bruce Doull, who put in another of his really great games for the Blues. - Football Record.
