Game Review
North won the toss but decided to kick against the wind. Carlton wasted its opportunities by kicking six behinds. North playing well and judging the wind better scored a goal. Clinton Hines then broke the run of behinds with the Blues' first goal, but then North replied with another major. Carlton led by 7 points kicking only one goal from 14 shots, while the Shinboners' did not miss, two goals from two shots. Now with the wind, North scored four quick goals to take a handy lead. The Blues defence was under constant pressure by the nippiness of the North attack. They had kicked six goals straight. The Blues added only one goal and at half time trailed by 23 points.
Carlton attacked early in the third term but failed to score. The good play by Bert Deacon enabled both Ken Hands and Herb Turner to kick goals. Carlton had lifted but North were playing good confident football. Ken Hands then added Carlton's seventh goal. The Blues had added 8.3 to North's solitary goal, and led by 16 points.
In the final term Carlton stacked the back line, despite this, North added another goal. Ray Garby quickly replied. Another goal was added by the Northerners to reduce the lead to six points. Bert Deacon drove the ball 60 yards into the wind, but Alec Way's shot hit the post. North then scored again to regain the lead, running out winners by 9 points..
