After successive losses, Carlton went into this match against the sixth-placed Hawks with some confidence, given the Blues' good record at Glenferrie Oval in recent years. But the Hawks' defence got on top after the main break, and they held on for a comfortable victory.Carlton dropped one rung on the ladder to ninth after this defeat, only two points ahead of Footscray and North Melbourne.
