Game Review

Despite the loss at the Western Oval, this Round 11 game was probably more famous for bringing to the club James Robert Buckley - otherwise known as Jimmy. Buckley would play 164 games in navy blue and be recorded in the annals of history as having a great time whilst doing it.

About the only good thing which can be mentioned about this game, was the record gate takings because the almost $35,000 who went to the game expected it to be a more even battle of brilliance between two teams in the five. It was obvious after the first few minutes play that Footscray were the better side, but even they should have scored more freely than they did considering the amount of time they had control of the ball. - Football Record.

Footscray defeated Carlton in a surprisingly low standard match. - Football Record.

Garry Higgins would play his 7th and final game a day before his 21st birthday in the Blues loss to Footscray on the Queens Birthday Monday Public Holiday.
