After the game, the Carlton Committee suspended Rod McGregor for 12 months for disobeying his captain's orders, and for other incidents during the game.

Essendon went on take their second consecutive flag, giving Jack Worrall five VFL Premierships as a coach after leading the Blues to their triple triumphs of 1906-08.
