The 1970 Annual Report for the Carlton Football Club explained the "Mrs Jean Cook Award" thus:
"Two other trophies were also awarded; one by Mrs Teresa McTaggart (Secretary of the Supporters Club) for our Reserves Most Consistent player. The other was donated by Colin Cook for our Reserves Most Improved player. This trophy is to be an annual award, to perpetuate the memory of his wife; Mrs Jean Cook, who, during her lifetime was a tireless worker for the Supporters Club."
