Laurence Angwin started his junior footy with Bonbeach FC, then was drafted from the Dandenong Stingrays U/18's by the Adelaide Crows FC. Ex Hawk and Crows coach Gary Ayres was very keen to recruit Angwin, whose grandfather had been a club champion with the Hawthorn FC. He was Adelaide bound despite the fact that some clubs were steering away from recruiting Angwin due to concerns about the integrity of his character off the field.

Most footy observers will agree that Laurence Angwin could have been anything. A 200cm marking tall with an astounding leap, Angwin could tear the opposition to threads. The clearest case in point was Angwin's second game in Round 15, 2003 against the Eagles at Subiaco. Angwin was one of only a handful of players to put their hands up and take on the opposition as the Blues were pummelled into submission. Two amazing goals on the run for a big bloke, one a snap, and we were all very excited. We knew that his departure from Adelaide was acrimonious, but this #47 bloke could play. Angwin was drafted as a rookie in 2003 , promoted later that year and would play 4 games, although injuries would interrupt much of his 2003- osteitis pubis early in the season and shoulder and groin problems after his third game, which would keep him out until the final match of the year.

Pre-season games also stay in the mind, with the talk created by a ripsnorter of a performance against Richmond in the 2004 Pre-Season at Optus Oval creating much interest in Carlton fanatics across the country. Angwin's angst mars Blues' win

But there was a big problem - staying focussed on the game. More famous for off field pursuits, he was returned to the Rookie List in 2004, only to turn up to training in an apparent drug induced state (with fellow Blue Karl Norman) early that year, which brought about his dimissal without playing a further senior game.

Speculation continued in 2004 and 2005 that he may get drafted, but Angwin appeared to have used his last chance. Phenomenal talent, phenomenal waste. After playing football in QLD, and later Moonee Valley in the EDFL, he was playing footy with Wyndhamvale in the WRFL in Melbourne's outer western suburbs in 2013.

In 2013, it was reported that Angwin was playing for Ouyen United, along with former AFL players Damian Cupido, Relton Roberts and Kane Munro, in the Mallee Football League.
