James Horan
Named as a Carlton captain by George F. Bowen who wrote that in the very early years Carlton captains were elected prior to each game.

1865 July 22
Horan is named in the Carlton squad of 25 to play the Warehousemen's club at St.Kilda Park.

1866 June 09
Horan was selected in the Carlton 20 to play in the Challenge Cup match against South Yarra at South Yarra.

1866 June 16
Horan selected in the team to play Emerald Hill at Emerald Hill.

1866 August 04
Horan named in the 20 to play South Yarra for the Challenge Cup at South Yarra.

1866 September 01
Horan named as an emergency for the Carlton team that for the third time this season tackled South Yarra for the Challenge Cup.

James Horan also played for Melbourne.

In the book History of the East Melbourne Cricket Club (p130), Thomas Horan writes that his brother James Horan died in March 1868, he played cricket for the East Melbourne club. He died from consumption. (T.B.)
