The Ballarat Star August 15 1882 reporting on the Ballarat vs Sandhurst match at Bendigo mentions former Carlton player O'Neill playing for Sandhurst.

Played with the East Sydney Football Club and represented N.S.W. in the intercolonial match on the M.C.G. against Victoria on May 22 1886
