Two players with the name George Smith played for the Blues, the other George Smith was a former vice captain back in the 1870's - 1880's.
This George, was a regular player from making his debut for the Blues in round one of the 1893 season.
Records are incomplete*, but he could have played 55 games for Carlton.
He departed Carlton on the eve of the 1896 season along with quite a few other disgruntled players.
George Smith's destination is unknown. (see below)

1893 May 6
First round of the 1893 season.
Carlton played North Melbourne at North Melbourne.
Smith was selected in the 27 man squad and was mentioned in the match report in The Argus.
This game would have been George Smith's Carlton debut.

1893 Smith was selected in all 20 team squads this year. He was mentioned in many match reports, so he could have played in all 20 games.

1894 George Smith played in the back line against Fitzroy at the M.C.G. on May 26.

1894 Smith was named in 12 out of 13 Carlton squads that Blueseum has details on for this year.
He could have possibly played 17 out of the 18 games this season.

1896 March 31
At the Carlton AGM, the club expressed it's sympathy to to George Smith and his family.
Smith was severely injured and maimed for life in a mining accident.

1896 According to the Carlton Story by Buggy and Bell, the Blues lost about a quarter of their first twenty players before the season started, Smith was amongst them.
