Garth Pickford played reserve grade football for Carlton on two separate occassions, the first was in 1996 and the other in 2001. Pickford was also used as a top-up player for Sydney reserves in 1995 and St Kilda's reserves in 1999.

Pickford was originally recruited from Hallam via TAC Cup team the Dandenong Stingrays. He was playing at St Kevins when he was called up to play reserve grade football for the Blues in 2001. He also played at North Ballarat between his stints with Carlton and St Kilda reserves teams.

In 2002, Pickford played for MPNFL team Narre Warren.

He didn't play a senior game for Carlton.
