Raso was drafted with Pick 77 in the 2004 National Draft from Dandenong Stingrays U/18's (originally from Mt Eliza). At the time, Raso was considered a pre-emptive pick on the 2005 National Draft, where Wayne Hughes (Carlton recruiting Manager) had commented that he could have been in the top 20 in the following year. Aged only seventeen at the time, he was regarded as highly skilled, but clearly not yet built to play senior football. Nevertheless, there was speculation that he would be taken high in the following draft, so the Carlton Football Club took him on that basis.

Bottom-aged and still very light on, Raso stayed in the school footy system for 2005 and then began in the Bullants for 2006, being promoted from the Bullants Reserves to the Seniors about half way through the year for a few games off half-back / wing.

A series of injuries and illnesses, including Glandular Fever and a wrist injury impacted on his ability to play competitive football. After 3 years on the list, in which he alternated between the Bullants and Bullants Reserves, Raso was let go from the club after the 2007 season. Raso lined up with VFL club Frankston for the 2008 season but departed ways at the end of the season.
