1926 April 22
The News (Adelaide) p10, ran a story on the history of football.
In reference to the South Adelaide club;
"Few of the foundation members of the blue-and-whites are still living, but Mr. George Sharp, who was the second secretary, was connected with the club in its first days, and has a good claim to the title of father.
According to him, those who were the prime movers in the formation of the team were the late Mr. Kingston, and Messrs. G. and K. Kennedy and S. Wallace. The three last named were Victorians, and played football with Carlton. It was on that account that blue-and-white was adopted to as the colors of the team.
Mr. Sharp said that the Kennedy brothers and Wallace were largely instrumental in forming the association, which today is known as the South Australian Football League.
Prior to their arrival in this State scratch games only were played. They inaugurated a body, which arranged games between the Adelaide teams.
George Kennedy was the first captain of the team, and upon his retirement from the position was followed by Wallace."

1926 June 11 p14
Sport, an Adelaide newspaper, wrote about the players of the South Adelaide team of 1877.
Sam Wallace, a grand back, hard to pass splendid kick, shows no sign of falling off with increasing years, one of the best place-kicks in the colony."
