Game Review

"Not for many years has a meeting of Carlton and Melbourne created as much interest as was the case this afternoon. The match awakened old memories, for the opposing clubs are the oldest in the history of Australian football. Some of the old timers are still living and they are full of anecdotes concerning the battles in those far off days when footballers were not as favored as they are these times.
Then, they had to play on gravelled grounds and the records of the contests abound with descriptions of the heavy tumbles and the consequent abrasions of the players. With their soft swards and luxurious appointments those who are in the game today would not care about changing for conditions such as had to be accepted when Carlton and Melbourne fought their wars away back in the sixties." (Herald June 25 p1)

The Blues got over the line against the Fuschias and joined Collingwood at the top of the ladder with 24 points.

At the end of this round Carlton were in 2nd spot on the ladder with a percentage of 127.2.
