Game Review

Carlton scrapped home by the narrowest of margins as the bustling, pressurising South took the game right up to them and had their chances to win late in the final quarter. The Swans have now equalled the performance of two wins in five games of the 1970 side, when they finished in the four at the end of the season. The win did little to build up the confidence of the Blues who were beaten badly in the forward line and at one stage in the second quarter, only had nine behinds on the board. However, the tenacious qualities of South saw them, after being only one point down at the last change, come back to almost snatch victory. - Football Record.

Carlton defeated South Melbourne by just one point after kicking inaccurately. David McKay and Tony Pickett were good players for the Blues. - Football Record.
