Arthur Rayson, father of future Blue Alan Rayson, kicked six goals for Geelong when they hammered Carlton by 72 points in this match at Corio Oval. To make things worse, Hawthorn beat Footscray at Glenferrie Oval that same afternoon, and dumped Carlton back to the bottom of the ladder.
