Game Review

This remarkable game was played on a Tuesday at Princes Park in dreadful weather. Essendon kicked their entire score of 4.4 (28) by half-time, and after that, defended grimly in the sleet and hail to prevent the Blues from overhauling them.

In fact, Carlton managed only 4 behinds themselves after the main break, and went down by 12 points. This second loss in a row dropped us to sixth on the ladder, ahead of only the two winless teams in Soth Melbourne and St Kilda.

Carlton's finest players were Casey, P. Williams, and Armstrong amid-field, Weir, Walton, and Reekie back, Curtis, Warde, Dunn, and Meadowcroft forward, Walsh roving, and Manchester, J. Pender, O'Dea, and Morrison on the ball. (Australasian May 28 p20)

At the end of this round Carlton were in 6th spot on the ladder with a percentage of 63.1.
