Game Review

Carlton would finish off the 2005 season with a fine effort against finalists, the Kangaroos. After being pummelled by Essendon the week before, Carlton would be competitive throughout and would lead for much of the first half, before the Roos would take over. The Blues kicked the first 3 goals of the match and led by 11 points at the first change. But the Kangaroos kicked the first 3 of the second term to take the lead. Both sides were wasteful in front of goal, each managing 5 behinds. A late goal to the Blues brought them within a point at the long break. It was then goal for goal until the Roos broke the game open with 3 late third quarter goals. The Blues persisted in the final quarter but in the end the Roos had a 5 goal victory.

Nick Stevens had 31 possessions. In the absence of Fevola, Brad Fisher became the main goal scorer with 3 from strong marks. Anthony Koutoufides, Scott Camporeale, Ryan Houlihan and David Teague tried hard.

Justin Davies did enough in this game to keep himself on the list for 2006, with 17 possessions and 2 goals, but would unfortunately never be able to play again, after suffering a debilitating back injury, which would sideline him for the whole of 2006. The game would also be the last in Navy Blue for veteran Scott Camporeale, who would quit the Club over the off-season and turn out in red and black in 2006. It would also be Digby Morrell's final AFL game.
