Game Review

Carlton was on a roll by now, so it was a little surprising how much they struggled to overcome the mid table Bulldogs. Bulldogs captain Laurie Sandlilands was a stand out.

Carlton had to pull out every bit of its strength to defeat Footscray in a thrilling and high scoring game at Princes Park. It was the highest aggregate score between these two teams since 1954. Although it was the Blues highest against the Bulldogs since 1939, it was the visitors highest against Carlton since 1954 and only their ninth century against them since 1925. The Blues have now won seven in a row - their best effort since the end of season 1972. - Football Record.
